Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies Ralph Aldredge and MAE Professor Vinod Narayanan Elected ASME Fellows
American Society of Mechanical Engineers Fellowship recognizes the outstanding engineering achievements of its members with more than 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering or a related field. Aldredge and Narayanan will be recognized at an upcoming ASME conference.
 
New Director of Undergraduate Affairs Stacey Cook Starts August 17
Cook will manage the Engineering Undergraduate Office and provide leadership, supervision and support for undergraduate advising in the college, working with campus to develop best advising practices and strategies. She has student-affairs leadership experience at College of Marin, Woodland Community College and De Anza College. She earned B.A. degrees in political science and ethnic studies from UC Berkeley, an M.P.A. from CSU Hayward and an Ed.D. from the University of San Francisco. 
 
Engineering Buildings to Require Keycard Access
Beginning September 15, Kemper and Bainer will require electronic keycard access and access with physical keys will be phased out. More details will be provided in the upcoming weeks. Contact Roland Faller at rfaller@ucdavis.edu for questions.
 
International Travel Must Be Reviewed by Campus Committee

Campus Provides Additional Updates on Fall 2020
Campus has outlined its planning and preparations for fall quarter [link], an updated Campus Ready plan [link] and a comprehensive FAQ for undergraduates [link]. These websites will be updated frequently based on new mandates or guidance from state and county public health officials.
 
DOE Consolidated Innovative Nuclear Research (CINR) Funding Opportunity
The U.S. Department of Energy is hosting a webinar series from August 10-14 from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. to discuss funding opportunities for its Nuclear Energy University Program. The webinar will cover different programs and changes for the upcoming fiscal year. Register [link] to attend. [more...]
