Effective September 2025, in accordance with the UC Davis Good Standing Policy for Academics, Faculty must be in Good Standing to be eligible for new Category I activities. Before submitting a request for Category I prior approval, please ensure the following:
- You are up to date on UC mandatory trainings
- You have submitted a sabbatical report for all previous sabbaticals
- You have submitted all Annual Certifications

Outside Professional Activities: Outside professional activities are those activities that faculty perform or promise to perform within their area of professional or academic expertise on behalf of someone other than the University of California. Category 1 activities require prior approval by the Provost. APM 025 prior approval for Category 1 activities and annual reporting are routed through the OATS system.
