Welcome to the College of Engineering Academic Personnel Office
The Office of Academic Personnel provides policy analysis, interpretation, and training in academic personnel related issues within the College of Engineering. The office oversees the processing of all College of Engineering academic personnel actions and is responsible for many personnel related activities including academic recruitment, appointment, merit and promotion review, faculty development and mentoring, sabbatical leaves, salary administration, diversity programs, and employee and labor relations.
It is the mission of the Office of Academic Personnel to:
Participate in building and maintaining an excellent faculty by facilitating faculty personnel actions (i.e., recruitments, appointments, promotions, and merit advancements) through the University’s complex review procedures, and ensure that individuals are judged by their peers solely on the basis of professional qualifications in accordance with fair procedures.
Serve as a resource for information and policy interpretation and training, and guide faculty and administrators in the implementation of policies that impact on the appointment and advancement of academic personnel.
Assist academic units in recruiting and retaining a diverse faculty, and in practicing cross-cultural understanding beyond simple compliance through implementation of best practices.
Provide professional development and mentoring activities that promote academic success by providing faculty with the skills necessary for all stages of their careers, and working with academic units in the creation of their own development activities.
